Abstract

The purpose of this article is to consider the levels of family functioning – social, family and individual, and their interrelations. In this paper the author tries to show that from point of view of psychological work with family (research, psychotherapy, and consultation) is not reasonable to adhere to the mentioned levels only because the restriction of varieties of the levels narrows down the possibility of comprehensive study of family by focusing on one level of its functioning. As a result, the psychological features of other levels of family functioning will be overlooked. The author shows that it is more reasonable to study the family and the psychological work with it to investigate the social, family and individual implications of every function in its possible relations with social, family and individual levels rather than just to classify the functions of family.
